20 words from "Skeleton on the dunny"
onsdag 24 september 2014
Music to me: we are the world
The song gives me hope and faith in humanity, maybe it will get better after all. The text is about how there are a lot of things that are unfair in the world and that things we don’t even choose like, where we’re born, how we look and who we love, can make it harder for us through life and can change our opportunities. It’s also about how we have to make a choice, to help or not.
The song was inspired by the song that was recorded in the 1984, Do they even know it’s christmas. The point with both songs is that they were recorded by famous singers and sold as a singel so that all the money that was raised went to the famines that was going on at the time. There were many artists singing this song, among them: Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. It was the two artists who wrote the big hit that was recorded and kids recognize and like even today.

Essay writing:
1. For what reason do you think Doctor Merrick’s decided to start the facility? What do you think ”The Island” is really saying about human cloning? Are you surprised by this in a Hollywood film?
I think Doctor Merrick’s got a god complex. He wants to be able to save human life on a hole new level and be the only one who can do it. Dr Merrick’s even says that he wants to be able to save kids from ever getting leukemia, witch is a form of cancer and doctors and scientist hasn’t figured out any cure to cancer yet. It’s often that people get a god complex when the accomplished greatness and when they have done things they never thought they would be able to do. You want to get further and won’t let anything stop you. I think that the person who produced or wrote The Island want’s to warn us of what could happened and how cloning could do more harm than good. To create a life to save yourself and kill whatever life you made after getting better is dangerous in many ways and that’s what I think the movie is telling us. That The Island is a Hollywood movie doesn’t surprise me. There’s a lot of violence and the content of the movie is something that many people like to watch, just because there’s a possibility that it could happened and that fears us.
2. What does Jordan mean when she says, ”The Island is real. It’s us”. What, if anything, is this saying about the human hope for some paradise or for heaven?
Everyone is in some kind of way scared of dying. We want to live as long as possible and to stay away from death. When cloning is discovered in the movie the humans can have their long lives and that’s like a paradise for them and their only hope. Like the island is the ”products” only hope the ”products” are the humans only hope and that is why Jordan says: The Island is real. It’s us. The movie shows that most humans greatest wish is to live for ever and that, it’s our paradise and our heaven. We don’t want to die and if we could avoid it many of us would.

The lion, the witch and the wardrobe - Character Tracer
The text we read for homework this week was a pice from the book The lion, the witch and the wardrobe written by C.S Lewis. There's four main characters and their names are: Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. My task was to choose on of them and describe him or her. I choose Lucy.
Lucy is the youngest sibling out of four. You can read about how she's scared of many things but she's very curious too. Right in the start when the odd - looking professor, with the grey hair, meets them she finds him a bit scary. Later on when the kids settled in and said goodnight to their new foster parent the boys sneak in to the girls room to discuss the their new home, the professor and what to do in the morning. Right away she reacts and she's scared that that they might get in to trouble and tells her brothers and her sister that they should all go to sleep. That's another sign of that she's easily scared of many things. There's on other sign that I found. After a while when they all sit down in the big bed and talk about the things that is to their benefit Lucy hears a sound and starts thinking about the large house, the long hallways and all the doors and it makes her feel a bit creepy. Her brothers ensures her that it's only a bird and she can relax a little.
So from the scared part to the curiosity. All the four brother and sisters are very curious. They talk a lot about how they need to explore more and how they want to discover everything there's to discover about the countryside, but it is Lucy how opens the door to the wardrobe and the door to Naria. It doesn't only show that she's curious but also that she seizes opportunity, that she makes sure that she looks everywhere before she gives up.
I don't know that much about Lucy but she seams like a nice girl and if she'd been real I think she'd grow up to become a very smart and responsible person. I think we all got a little bit of Lucy in us. A little curiosity and something we're afraid of. Because without fear and curiosity we aren't complete.

The lion, the witch and the wardrobe - task on p. 44 WB
What do you know about the picture?
Yes, that’s the question I’m supposed to answer. The picture show a lot of things and the more you think out of the box the more you can find to write down. I'll write this text with a little knowledge about the real story. Who's the girl? Where is she? What's happening? And what will happen after a while? Well you read on and I'll tell you.
It's cold, white and there's snow everywhere. The little girl and the faun on the picture are standing in the a huge forest, a cold and white forest. Everywhere around them, on the threes and on the ground and in the air there's snow, it's winter. The girl who's name is Lucy is very curious and a bit chocked. Just a second ago she was in her new home playing with her four brothers and sisters and then when she opened the wardrobe and walked in she ended up on the other side, the forest. How did this happened? Well the picture and the text doesn't really tell you that.
Anyway back to the story. There's a faun, what's a faun? Well a faun is a human from the waist and up but has a horse body and hooves from the waist and down. The faun is also a bit chocked he didn't expect to find Lucy, a human, in Narnia. Narnia the country she happened to find in a wardrobe. A country where it's winter all the year around but no christmas. Narnia, the county ruled by an evil queen but they did find each other and on the picture you can see that they are talking. They must have realized that both of them are pretty surprised and maybe even scared. The faun's bends down to become as small as Lucy and in his hands he has a couple of packages. I don't really know what will happened after the moment on the picture but I hope that Lucy involves her siblings and tell them. They all seam pretty close and I think the they would make a great team.

Creative Conector, Gift
The text Gift is about a girl that get mixed signals from a guy and misunderstands him. She thinks he's in to her but he's really engaged to someone else. I'm supposed to try connect this story to a reality, my reality, but I can't. This never happened to me, so I have to try connecting it to a book or a movie.
Well when I start to think about it there's pretty many stories that start this way. A girl or a guy that falls in love with someone and in the end you find out that they made it all up in their head. I just can't figure out what is it that makes us human enjoy a story about broken hearts and love that doesn't work out.
In most stories the girl or the boy get's their soulmate and they can live their happily ever after, but not in this one. Gift ends up with Sunni, his future bride, and that makes the story very sad. Well even if it's a sad love story if you look at it from the girls perspective you can see that Gift and Sunni got the love story most people wish for. And even if the girl didn't get the love story she wanted this time but I'm convinced that she'll find her soulmate one day.

YOUNG BOY ATTACKED BY STREET GANG
Yesterday evening on the streets of Memphis, Tennessee a young boy was attacked by a street gang. He was out to buy some groceries when he meet the boys. ”The beat me and took all my money, but not once, twice” he says to media. The boy tells us how he desperately needed the groceries and went one third time. This time he had a big stick with him and when the gang came close he fought back. The gang runs scared home and not long after that they disappeared their parents arrive. The young boy picks up his money tell the parents to leave him alone and goes to buy his groceries. No one got hurt and this morning the police brought in some suspects that could have been responsible for the assault. "I can't remember their faces, it was so dark and I was terrified" he ends.
Hunger, summary
The text Hunger is a story about a boy how's parents are in a fight. In the end of the fight his father leaves, him, his brother and his mother, and with him goes the money and the food. No one's around to pay any bills and the mother decides to get a job and start making some changes. She tells her children that they need to take more responsibilities and to help her take care of each other, and they do. One day the mother takes her oldest child out to the supermarket and tells him he's the one grocery shopping to the hole family now. She gives him a list, some money and she goes home to wait for him. When he's about to enter the supermarket a gang walk up to him and they beat him and take all the money. He runs home scared but when he arrives his mother rejects him and tells him to go back. She gives him more money a new list and he walks scared back to the supermarket. Yet on more time the gang chases him down and beat him and take all the money. He runs home and to his mother and again she tells him to go back. She give him more money and another list. He cries and tells her that he don't want to go back, that they will beat him even harder and take all the money again. She goes back in and come back with big stick. She tells him to go back and don't come back until he bought all the groceries on the list. You have to learn how to defend yourself she says and shut the door in his face. He walk back to the supermarket and when the gang comes closer to beat him he defends himself. He hits all the kids in the gang and they all run terrified. Just seconds later their parents come out to start yell at him. Then he threaten them and tells them that he'll do what he did to their children to them if they don't leave him alone. He picks up his money, the list and grabs the stick and walks to the supermarket to buy he's groceries.
I read the story and I see what the mother wants to teach her son but I think she does it in the wrong way. She wants to teach her son to defend himself and that you have to take what's rightfully yours but she does it in the wrong way. I think that she could have done it in another way and still taught him the same lesson.

3. Vals' a Grandma had a fear of water and she's not alone. We're all afraid of something! What are you afraid of?

We know were you live, finish the story
If it wasn't Rachel and the other girls in the class that sent the texts, who was it? She couldn't move and she couldn't stop crying. Why was this happening to her. Could someone actually hate her so much because she dated Simon? Not even Rachel was that angry and Rachel would never hurt her. Not even threat her like this. The other girls maybe thought that she was out of line but this, this was way to much. They wouldn't do this. Emma heard the door open. Scared she hid behind the door.
- Emma, at home alredy? it was her mother. Could you help me with the grocery, please? Relieved she dried her tears. She didn't want anyone to see her like this.
- Yeah, just a seconed, I'll be right out, she answered.
She sat down just for a seconed to calm down before she opened the door and walked straight to the kitchen. In silence Emma packed up the grocery and then her mum started to cook food. Emma put the last product in the fridge and went back to her room and picked up her phone. Still scared she looked at the screen and saw that someone sent her a new messege. "If you tell anyone about the texts, you will regret it". What would she do now. She couldn't tell her mum becuse she would tell the police and then everyone would find out. Simon? No, he was a jerk. She fell for him at first but now she hated him. He didn't like her at all. He just took adventage of her and he wouldn't understand. Rachel? Mabye they wasn't BFFs at the moment but wouldn't she help in a crisis like this one? Emma had to try, no one else could help her.
Terrifide Emma walked to Rachels house in the rain. She knocked at the door and it opened. It was Rachel.
- What part of the sentences I don't care, leave me alone don't you understand? Cuz' I would happily explain it to you said Rachel
- Rach, I'm so sorry about Simon, I really mean that but I can't go back and change the past.
- I don't want you to. I'm happy you and that disgusting idiot found eachother. You make a lovely coupel. Was that the only reason you came over and knocked at my door?
- I alredy told you I'm sorry but that's not the only reason I came but it's freezing outside. Inside?
- So it wasn't enough that you came? You have to be rude to? Rachel snaped.
- Please? Emma asked as nice as she possibly could.
Reluctantly Rachel opened the door and Emma steped inside. She took her shoes and her jacket off and followed Rachel to her room. No one else was in the house and when Rachel closed the door Emma started to tell her about the texts. About how the started after Rachel foud out about Simon and how they just got worse. When she stoped talking she tried to hold the tears back. Emma sat and waited for any reaction from rachel. But she didn't say anything, not a word. Emma looked out the window and suddenly a tear fell down her ceek, and another one and they didn't stop. Rachel stood up and walked over to Emma and huged her.
- I'm so sorry for not beeing here for you Em, I don't know what to say, whispered Rachel.
- No, I just don't know what to do, do you?, Emma anwnsered still crying.
- I'm gonna be honest with you, I don't. Did you tell anyone else?
- No, just you, I need you and your help, Emma said.
The next day the girls walked to school together and Emmas phone beeped. She opened the textmessge and read it. "You told Rachel right, you are going to regret it like I told you and just so you know this is a warning, and I'm watching you"

In episode 12:
Int this episode Lockie talked about how he only was thinking about Dot. He had become a bad friend, son and brother and on top of all that his girlfriend wasn't exactly the happiest girl on the planet. Even if he was thinking about her and surfing a lot with her they didn't talk much. Dot thought that it was strange that they couldn't talk and hang out and talk as much as other couples.
And that wasn't all. Lockie totally forgot and stop thinking about Egg, his mum and Philip. They planed the hole protest but Lockie didn't help or show up to the meeting they was supposed to arrange. Eggs parents also had their wedding anniversary and Egg told Lockie how he needed help but he didn't get any. Lockie was also mean to his brother and teased him about all sorts of things and he ignored his mum to maximum.

A part out of Lockies diary!
Dear Diary
Today has been exhausting and the day I feared had come. We moved from the big city to I don't know what. The worst thing is that the house is a wrack. It's like it could fall down any minute. Everything is so old and the room I'm share with my brother Philip smells like wet dog and pee.
I also met this beautiful. We went to the school to write me in and there she was. Vicki Streetson. I was so nervous and I forgot my name and everything else. No other girl ever made me forget my name. It was so embarrassing. I'll probably never speak to her again
Well later on I went down to the water to see if the the waves were as good as they say. I surfed around and tried to clear my head and suddenly I fell. But the thing is I didn't just fall down into the water but I also hurt my self pretty bad in the balls. And then I just happened to met a guy named Egg how later became my friend. What are the odds.
Any way I have to go now see you later alligator.

I think that it have been fun to work whit the english speaking countries. I like the way presented the work we'd done and I hope we're gone do it again. It was nice to work by myself and it make me realize that I can use pretty much of my english in a good way, way better then I thought and it makes me want to learn more. I'm happy with my performance and achievements. I think that the negative thing is that we didn't work that good in our group.
When i look at the "bedömningsmatris" I see that I need to improve the "Interaktion, förmågan att förbättra mitt språk" and my "skriftliga förmåga".
